Who said God was a male?

People think that God is a male because of how the the Bible has represented him. Most of the time He is often referred as 'He' or 'Him' which has left a lot of people inquisitive about how do they know gender of God because he is an unknowable God. And there are verses which corroborate that no one knows God which are as follows:

1 John 4:12
No one has seen God at any time . If we love one another, God abides in us and His love has been perferected in us.

Exodus 33:20
But He said," You cannot see my face; for no man shall see Me and live"

The Bible has molded our mind that we can't picture God as female. And God is powerful, strong, loving, caring etc. of which men and women do have these qualities

So why can't you have mental perception that God is a female?
